Data usage in India will increase by 72.6 per cent by 2022, according to a study.
The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) and PWC jointly released a report on increasing data usage in India.
According to the report, the use of 71,67,103 million megabytes of data in 2017 will increase to 10,96,58,793 million megabytes in 2022.
This is 72.6 per cent growth. The study says until 2013 Indians spent more on call data than mobile data,
But now Indians spend more on mobile data usage than calls.
The average amount spent on calls in 2013 was Rs.214 but on mobile data only an average of Rs. 173 was spent.
In 2016, Rs.124 for calls and Rs.225 for data usage was spent. 65 to 75 per cent of mobile data usage is spent watching videos.
While internet use is growing at a steady speed in India, The survey states that mobile data usage will grow 56.7 per cent.
The increasing use of smartphones has made the network companies to provide data perks which have increased the data usage.
