Adani foundation owns the GK general hospital in Bhuj. In the past 5 years, more than 1000 children died in this hospital.
At the state assembly, the opposition party’s Santokben Arethia (Congress) raised the question about the children died in this hospital.
The Deputy CM of Gujarat Nitin Patel said that around 1018 children have died in GK General Hospital in the last five years.
In his written statement he says ” 2014-15 children death toll was 188, 2015-16 children death toll was 187,
2016-17 children death toll was 208, 2017-2018 children death toll was 276 and 2018-2019 children death toll was 159″
The Deputy CM who also handles Health portfolio said these children have died from different ailments and medical complications.
Mr Patel added that a committee was formed in May last year to probe the causes of the deaths.
In its report, the committee listed various reasons behind the death of the children (infants), Mr Patel said in his reply.
These included serious complications among prematurely born babies, infectious diseases, respiratory complications, birth asphyxia and sepsis among infants either referred to the hospital or born there, he said.
Referring to the panel report findings, Mr Patel told the assembly that the treatment administered by the hospital was as per the “set protocols and standard guidelines
