The Election Commission on Sunday announced a slew of improved and new measures to be implemented in the Lok Sabha elections 2019.
The Commission announced the new measures while releasing seven-phase schedule of the elections of the world’s largest democracy.
The voters of the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections will find the following five things for the first time:
1: One polling station in every assembly will be managed exclusively by women staff force.
- The social media platforms will cooperate with the Election Commission to track the political campaigns on their platform. The Election Commission has also asked these social media platforms to hire a grievance officer who can handle the complaints lodged by users.
- This time the voters will also get the details of the vote cast allowing the voter to check whether the vote has been cast in favour of the chosen candidate or not. The checking can be done before it falls into the printer drop box.
- The political parties are now also required to advertise criminal antecedents of candidates to the national media.
- In an important attempt, the Electronic Voting Machines will be tracked down using GPS systems. Along with the tracking system, the machines will be accompanied by flying squads.
