Modi to take Oath as PM for a second term on May 30!

Narendra Modi will take oath as prime minister of India for a second term in office on May 30 (Thursday).

The news came just hours before he was expected to meet the President to stake claim to form the government.

It has been reported that PM Modi will likely call on President Ram Nath Kovind at around 8 pm.

Prior to that, leaders of the ruling NDA are also expected to meet the President at the Rashtrapati Bhawan at around 7 pm.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, results for which were announced on May 23, the NDA stormed back to power, winning re-election with 352 seats.

The BJP on its own won 303 of total 542 parliamentary seats that went to polls.

Meanwhile, government sources commented on the speculation in the media regarding inviting foreign leaders for the oath-taking ceremony.

In 2014, when Modi took oath as the prime minister for the first time, he had invited the Heads of SAARC nations to the swearing-in ceremony.

Earlier in the day today, the full Election Commission met President Kovind and gave him the complete list of 542 newly-elected members of the Lok Sabha.

This was necessary for the President to start the formal process of formation of the new government.
