After the Pulwama attack, the trade issue between India and Pakistan has increased Kenya’s tea exports.
After Pakistani terrorist organization attacked in Pulwama district of Kashmir on February 14,
India has tightened its business relationship with the country. The Government of India raised the tax on various items imported from there to 200%.
Similarly, the Tea Exporters Federation said it would stop the export of tea to Pakistan.
By this decision, Pakistan is heavily dependent on Kenya for importing tea. Pakistan imports 65 to 70 million kilograms of tea annually from Kenya.
Now the demand for Kenya tea has increased in Pakistan and its price has risen from Rs 12 to Rs.15
In terms of India, Pakistan’s share of India’s overall tea exports is 6%.
In 2018 alone, Pakistan imported 15.83 million kilos of tea from India. Its value is Rs 154.71 crore.
