The Sri Lankan team is carrying a respectable message to the world stage, this ICC World Cup!
This World Cup, the Srilankans will be donning jerseys made up of recycled plastic materials which were collected from the ocean.
According to MAS Holdings, the official clothing sponsor the jerseys were created using recycled plastic waste sourced from beaches around the country.
The company said that the material was locally manufactured and is on par with international standards.
Significantly, the jersey sport an image of a turtle, the species which faces the biggest threat of plastic waste in the oceans.
The company said the idea was to create public awareness about the conservation of marine life.
According to scientists, about 8 million metric tons of plastic are thrown into the ocean annually!
