MS Dhoni was once again in lethal touch, as he toyed around the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bowling attack to nearly pull off a miraculous chase for his side Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday.
Dhoni registered his career-best knock (84* off 48) in the IPL but eventually failed to get his team over the line as CSK lost the last-ball thriller by 1 run.
En-route his sensational knock, which was laced with seven sixes and five fours, Dhoni slammed a huge 111 metre six off Umesh Yadav in the final over of the game.
The staggering hit went over the roof of the Chinnaswamy Stadium leaving the fans and the players in awe of Dhoni’s hitting prowess.
It was banged in short by Yadav and Dhoni was ready as he timed his shot to perfection and the ball went flying.
Dhoni stayed in the middle till the last delivery and took the game down the wire to bring down the equation to 26 required off the final six deliveries.
While it looked like an impossible task, Dhoni started off with a boundary before hitting two back-to-back sixes to bring it down to 10 required off the last three.
Dhoni then scored a couple of runs and hammered another six off the penultimate delivery.
With two needed off the last ball, Dhoni failed to connect with the final delivery and as he rushed for a single, Parthiv Patel’s direct hit saw Shardul Thakur getting run-out.
